On June 27th at KMFA, come celebrate the 55th anniversary of Austin's first Pride March and the 50th anniversary of Austin’s first Pride Week (June 20–26, 1976) at our next flagship production—Embodied: A Celebration of Pride.
This interdisciplinary and multicultural production highlights Austin-based professional BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ visual artists, musicians, and dancers. The evening opens with a community resource fair and visual art gallery exhibition featuring Austin-based BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ visual artists, followed by live performances spanning classical, jazz, ballet, tap dancing, contemporary, Filipino, and West African musical and movement traditions.
The performance culminates in the world premiere of All This Flesh, an original dance short film conceived by Artistic Director Caitlin Elledge, produced by ATX Artists for Social Impact, and performed by Capital Contemporary Ballet.
Note: Often when we think of Pride, we think of beautiful costumes and extravagant parades. Embodied invites our community to interpret Pride through a different lens—through intersectional cultural heritage, personal reflection, lived experience, and artistic expression. Come as you are—because you belong no matter what.
Dress Code: Embody what Pride means to you. Wear what makes you feel your most confident.
Content Warning: Embodied contains themes of mental health, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders.
Parking is very limited. Please use rideshare if possible.
This project is made possible in part by the City of Austin's Division of Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment and the Elevate Grant.
