Spencer Foster
Treasurer
Strategic Advisor, Social Services
Spencer Foster is an activist and musician based in Austin, Texas. Deeply committed to social justice, he has worked in a variety of roles, including case manager and program director at a nonprofit shelter for asylum seekers and immigrants. He has also served as a legal advocate for detainees during bond hearings in Travis County and volunteered with several grassroots organizations—including as a bicycle mechanic for a nonprofit that refurbishes and donates bikes to underserved communities.
A lifelong musician, Spencer is a familiar presence in the Austin music scene, performing regularly as both a solo artist and bandleader. His debut album, Crossed Out, is available on all major streaming platforms. As an educator, he has taught music for over eight years—freelancing, serving on the faculty of a nonprofit music school for underserved youth, and adjudicating regional high school music competitions.
Spencer’s passion lies in uniting his two worlds—music and activism—to help build a society that is as just as it is expressive.
Founders’ Note:
Spencer embodies the intersection of music and social justice with a proven track record and professional experience that reflect the kind of impact our organization strives to make in the Austin community. In many ways, he represents the heart of ATX Artists for Social Impact. If our city were filled with more mission-driven artists like him, our vision would already be a reality.
